Chuck Hillwig is a multi instrumentalist musician with extensive experience as a live performer and session musician over a wide variety of musical genres. Primarily a bassist, Chuck also doubles on synthesizer, guitar, hand percussion and a variety of other instruments. After spending two years studying Jazz Performance at University of The Arts he went to Berklee College of Music where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree with a major in Music Synthesis. Since graduating Berklee College of Music in 2004 Chuck has worked with some of the biggest names in the music business, performed at legendary venues, worked as a an audio engineer in a variety of settings from concert venues, corporate events, theatrical venues and recording studios. As an educator he has taught college courses on audio production, mixing, synthesizers, and recording at Digital Media Arts at Touro College in New York City, music appreciation, jazz appreciation, private lessons, and home recording at Essex County College in Newark, N.J., audio production courses at The Art Institute in Philadelphia, in addition to thousands of private lessons on bass, guitar, synthesizer programing, audio recording, and mixing. As a musician he has performed in multiple off Broadway theatrical productions, toured nationally and internationally with artists such as Canadian Singer Songwriter, 6 time Toronto Music Award Winner, Billboard charting, Kobalt publishing songwriter Clara Lofaro, and hard rock act PushMethod just to name a few. For almost a decade Chuck worked alongside Grammy Nominated Producer, Billy Joel Keyboardist and Music Director David Rosenthal. He worked as an audio engineer at David’s Sonic Adventures studio on projects such as Billy Joel’s Last Play at Shea (debuted at #1 on the Billboard DVD charts), Billy Joel’s Live at Shea Stadium, Ethan Bortnick’s Live in Concert The Power of Music (credited as assistant arranger), Steve Vai’s The Story of Light and Ellie Wiesel’s Ellie Wiesel in Concert. Chuck also worked as David’s keyboard tech building large scale synthesizer systems, and playback systems for David, Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen, and Alicia Keys. In addition to his work as a musician, educator, studio engineer Chuck also has an extensive resume as a live sound engineer. Working such venues as New York City’s 54 Below, S.I.R. Studio’s Soundstage, Philadelphia’s Theater of The Living Arts (T.L.A), Fillmore Philadelphia, The Suzanne Roberts Theatre, The Legendary Dobbs, The Kimmel Center, as a member of I.A.T.S.E. local 8, and Atlantic City Casinos such as The Golden Nugget, The Hard Rock, and Bally’s as a member of I.A.T.S.E. local 917. In addition to his A.F.M local 77 membership he also holds membership in I.A.T.S.E. local 8 (Philadelphia), I.A.T.S.E local 917 (Atlantic City), A.E.S., and A.S.C.A.P.
