Saxophonist, Clarinetist, Multi-instrumentalist, Producer and Educator Laurent Bass is an active member of the Philadelphia jazz collective. A native of Philadelphia, he draws from a rich musical background that spans jazz, Latin, world, Nu Jazz, classical, and electronic music production. Laurent performs on tenor, alto, and soprano saxophones, clarinet, EWI, flute, and blues harmonica.
He leads and collaborates with several ensembles, including the Laurent Bass Jazz Collective, Mélange Jazz Collective, The Rio Rhythm Project, MïxT BeatZ, and Gumbo Nouveau, and is a principal of LB Entertainment, LLC.
Laurent studied extensively with composer, clarinetist, and saxophonist Norman David; composer and saxophonist Bobby Zankel; flutist Dr. Cynthia Folio; and clarinetist Charles Salinger. He earned a Producer’s Certificate in Ableton Live from Dubspot, New York’s premier electronic music school.
In addition to his artistic pursuits, Laurent holds an M.Ed. from Harvard University and a BA from Temple University.
Laurent has performed in a wide range of public and private venues, including the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Barnes Foundation, Philadelphia Convention Center, Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, Atlantic City, National Constitution Center, The Logan Hotel, Hotel Monaco, The Bellevue Hotel, InLiquid, and more.
